The site will deliver reviews, insight and advice for the increasing number of new car buyers looking to go electric.
Content will focus on the real issues facing buyers, and will feature reviews of every electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid car on the market, says Dennis. This will be supported by a large number of advice features and videos covering everything from basic mythbusters to more practical information, plus news and buying guides.
The website will be fronted by associate editor Vicky Parrott, who has held a number of senior roles at high-profile titles including What Car?, Autocar and DriveTribe. Parrott will be the face of the site and will also present the brand’s videos, including reviews of the most in-demand models and ‘explainer’-style videos.
Using Dennis’ SEO expertise, the new site aims to answer every question potential buyers are asking about electrified cars. According to Dennis Publishing, the market for electrified models is growing fast, and there’s a demand from in-market buyers for honest, straightforward and easy-to-understand advice.
The new site will be supported by a large marketing campaign and an associated newsstand magazine launch.
Editor-in-chief Steve Fowler commented: “All the research and industry trends point to a market explosion for electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. But our research points to a real gap in buyers’ knowledge, too. Now is the perfect time to fill that gap with DrivingElectric, providing clear, concise and jargon-free content on our website and across a range of social media channels, including YouTube.”
Volkswagen will be the launch partner of the site until the end of 2018 with cross platform and brand activity, negotiated through its media agency PHD. The Volkswagen and DrivingElectric partnership will include a range of associated articles and videos that will help inform potential buyers about the practicalities of electric cars.
Glyn Butterworth, National Communications Manager of Volkswagen UK, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with DrivingElectric. The team at Dennis presented their vision for the way an EV website should work and this mirrored our advocacy and enthusiasm for the electric car market. As such, this strategic tie up will really help us to reach and inform electric car considerers.”
