Empire publishes super-sized ‘megazine’

Bauer Media’s Empire, the movie magazine, is publishing a limited print run of super-sized ‘Megazines’ as part of its year of 25th anniversary celebrations.

The April issue, on sale this Thursday (27 February), coincides with a first look at Gareth Edwards’ rebirth of the monster classic Godzilla and a world exclusive set-report by Empire Features Editor Dan Jolin.

The limited edition covers which are 342mm x 264mm will appear in WH Smith travel and high street retailers as well as the top 50 HMV stores across the country.

This special edition is the third event issue of the year and forms part of a 12-month campaign including a host of ground-breaking initiatives planned around Empire’s 25th year incorporating its 300th issue and the annual Jameson Empire Awards, says Bauer Media.

Last month the magazine published 25 limited edition X-Men covers (ahead of the release of X-Men: Days of Future Past), including one featuring the film’s director, Bryan Singer.

Empire’s Editor-in-Chief Mark Dinning commented: “This month’s monumental Godzilla issue is the third in Empire’s 25th birthday run of no fewer than 12 sensational editions and I’m proud to have the BIGGEST star in movie history gracing our front cover. An Empire first, it was the world-exclusive look at Gareth Edwards’ all-new monster movie that inspired us to go for the huge-scale treatment… sometimes size does matter afterall!”
