FutureFolio to power digital edition of Peppa Pig magazine

FutureFolio, the interactive tablet magazine and brochure creation software business from Future, has been chosen to produce a digital edition of the official Peppa Pig Bag-O-Fun magazine.

Peppa Pig Bag-O-Fun, published by Redan Publishing, has an average circulation of 70,000 copies per month (publisher’s statement). The Peppa Pig brand, licensed by Entertainment One, leads the charge as the number one pre-school property in the total toy market (based on NPD data).

The magazine app will be the first Peppa Pig magazine on Apple Newsstand, and will be one of the most interactive children’s magazines on Newsstand, says FutureFolio.

The fully interactive edition will include:

* Free-hand colouring sections

* Character voices

* Story running throughout, with interactive activities along the way

* An educational focus

The FutureFolio team was commended at this year’s PPA Awards in the Development Team of the Year category. The Jamie Magazine app, powered by Folio, recently won a 2013 Lovie, as well as being named in Apple’s Apps of 2012.

Mark Wood, CEO of Future, says: “Working on Peppa Pig marks FutureFolio’s entrance into the competitive children’s market and we are delighted to be working with Redan to produce a high-quality interactive version of the UK’s most popular pre-school brand. Future Folio is increasingly seen as one of the most advanced and flexible creator tools in the market and this partnership shows it can create engaging, responsive content and functionality for tablet users of all ages.”

Julie Jones, Joint Managing Director of Redan Publishing, says: “We are delighted to be working with industry leaders, FutureFolio as we believe they offer the most flexible and comprehensive platform on which to create a truly interactive version of our magazine. We wanted to deliver a fully interactive publication that adds something different and special to the printed version and not just a simple pdf version. This was quite a challenge, knowing that children are amongst the most savvy users of tablets. The animation and activities we have been able to create using the FutureFolio system will provide Peppa fans with a new and exciting way to engage with their favourite character and we hope that each digital issue will keep them entertained for hours.”

The first digital issue of Peppa Pig Bag-O-Fun goes on sale on December 5.
