As part of London Design Week, the live event saw Future’s Computer Arts magazine come to life with a series of educational seminars offering creative inspiration and guidance to aspiring design professionals.
The event grew from Computer Art’s annual Graduate Showcase exhibition, which runs in the magazine and online.
Supported by D&AD and Free Range with sponsors Adobe and Shutterstock, the event saw some of the biggest names in the UK industry offering advice on how to break into a tough business environment – launching their career in design.
Alongside expert panel sessions and Q&As, graduates were given one-on-one advice on their creative portfolios by studio heads and members of the Computer Arts team.
Rob Carney, Editor, Computer Arts, said: “The Graduate Showcase Seminars brought together some of the industry’s finest designers to educate the country’s freshest creative talent on the real-world challenges of self-promotion, getting a job and keeping the ideas flowing. With the advice new graduates have gained from our line-up of the country’s most established and revered creative professionals, they are well set to begin their career in design.”
Fiona Tully, Associate Publisher, Computer Arts, added: “It’s a tough market out there, and with around 18,000 UK design students entering the job market every year, it’s more important than ever for graduates to know how to market themselves. Computer Arts has been showcasing the best new talent for over 10 years and the extension of our annual Graduate Showcase into a live educational event is an important way of getting new designers face-to-face with the best in the business.”
