Haymarket Exhibitions MD Simon Daukes steps down

Following Lord Heseltine’s announcement of his retirement as executive chairman of Haymarket Media Group in January 2010, he has announced that Simon Daukes, managing director of Haymarket Exhibitions, has decided to leave the company at the same time.

“The past 10 years have been a particularly exciting time for Haymarket,” said Simon Daukes (pictured). “We have grown fast and developed into a varied and complex operation. I am proud to have led varied parts of the business through this growth despite the turmoil of economic change in recent times. As the economy starts to emerge from recession I look forward to the future and driving forward exciting new businesses.

“I wish all my friends and colleagues the best of luck in taking this amazing company forward. I have had an incredibly stimulating career which I couldn’t have enjoyed more.”

Michael Heseltine said: “I announce this news with very great regret. Simon has made a long and remarkable contribution to our consumer media and exhibition activities. Under his leadership we have established leading brands in many fields and outstandingly successful live events. He has also guided us along the uncharted paths from print to the web so that our print titles are now partnered by successful online activities. In addition he has presided over the establishment of Autocar as the world’s leading car magazine and Whatcar.com. He leaves us with every good wish for his future career and deep gratitude.”
