Independent Publisher Awards 2010 now open for entry

PPA’s Independent Publisher Awards are the “ultimate” accolade for the achievements of independent publishers. They celebrate the dynamic contribution made to the publishing industry and the entrepreneurial spirit of the smaller publisher.

There are 13 awards and 2010 sees the introduction of several new categories, including ‘Sales Person of the Year'. The awards are open to publications, websites, brands, companies and individuals. For the purpose of these awards, an independent publisher is classified as having a turnover of £10m or below.

The closing date for entries is Wednesday 22 September.

The judges recognise that trading has continued to be tough and expect entries to be as much about ‘digging-in' and holding market positions as about breaking new ground.

After the success of 2009, this year’s Awards will again take place as a stand-alone event. The lunchtime Awards ceremony will be twinned with a morning conference, with the theme ‘Innovating for Success!’

This year’s event will take place at Vinopolis on London’s South Bank on Tuesday 7 December. Booking to attend the event will open in October. With a record attendance last year and limited capacity for 2010, remember to book early!

It’s a great opportunity, says the PPA, to meet and network with fellow independent publishers. Plus you really could be inspired to develop your next “BIG” business idea by someone you meet, or something you hear!
