James Attwood appointed editor of Motorsport News

Haymarket Consumer Media has announced that James Attwood has been appointed editor of Motorsport News, the motorsport newspaper.

Attwood (pictured) will replace Matt Burt, who is moving to Autocar after four years of editorship culminating in a successful redesign earlier this year.

Attwood said: “It’s a great honour and a true privilege to be given the job of editing Motorsport News.

“It’s a fantastic publication with a long history, a great reputation and a passionate readership – I don’t think that any editor could ask for anything more in a title.

“Trying to replace Matt will be a difficult task, but thanks to his efforts MN is in a great place to continue being heard loud as the Voice of British Motorsport.”

A lifelong motorsport enthusiast, Attwood joined MN as national rally editor in 2004 from sister title Autosport, and took over as deputy editor two years later.

Motorsport News publisher Rob Aherne said: “Matt is a hard act to follow, but Atters has proved time and again that he has the creativity and cool head required to lead MN at an exciting time in the brand’s development.”

MN has recently launched a digital edition on the Zinio newsstand, and plans are underway to launch the inaugural Motorsport News Awards in 2012.
