Menzies launch mobile phone app for retailers

Newspaper and magazine retailers have welcomed the development of a mobile phone app by Menzies Distribution, which allows staff to easily manage stock claims from the shop floor.

The free i-Menzies app, which is available on iPhone, Android and Blackberry devices, was downloaded by more than 500 retailers during a three month trial, according to Menzies. Following positive feedback it is now being offered to all 12,000 independent customers.

The app is an extension of the full online service offered by i-Menzies which was developed six years ago to empower retailers to manage their accounts. Both online services are supported by Menzies Distribution Customer Services teams.

Menzies Distribution Commercial Director David Cooke (pictured) said: “The number of retailers using our online service i-Menzies went up by a third in the last year, and users tell us that they enjoy the freedom of managing their own stock.

“However, we know not all of our customers have a computer in their shop even though that can be the most convenient place to make claims, which is why we developed our mobile phone app.”

After trialling the new service, scores of independent retailers were surveyed by Menzies Distribution Customer Service Advisors. The most common review was that it is “quick, easy and convenient” and the app has now had several five star reviews on the iTunes store.

Cooke said: “We’re constantly innovating and looking to use new technology to improve our service and our customers’ experience.

“We welcome more feedback and we will be working with our colleagues in Menzies Digital Marketing to ensure the app can offer more functions in the future.”
