Metro and MailOnline unite to Stand Up To Cancer

Metro and MailOnline have today joined forces to support this year’s Stand Up To Cancer campaign, with print formats appearing in Metro newspaper, plus video content and digital formats going live across MailOnline.

For this year’s Stand Up To Cancer, Cancer Research UK and Channel 4 are encouraging people to rebel and fundraise “however-the-hell-they-want” to accelerate ground breaking cancer research and save more lives. The disruptive, bold and cheeky campaign encourages everyone to get involved with a nationwide rebellion against cancer. Featuring a host of celebrities, it aims to inspire and enthuse the general public with a range of original fundraising activities, say the publishers.

Metro and MailOnline will be creating a wide range of ad formats, video content and native articles to run across print and digital channels to push both the fundraising activity and the launch of the live TV show on Channel 4 on Friday 21 October.

The first in the series of six events featuring in the campaign will reveal what happened when Jasmin Walia went to a Stand Up To Cancer speed dating fundraiser hosted by Will Best. New events will be revealed each week via video edits and branded content features with even more celebrities.

In a joint statement, Sophie Robinson (Creative Director, Metro Story) and Mel Scott (Chief Revenue Officer, Mail Brands UK) said: “Metro and MailOnline are thrilled to be joining forces to help call on the nation to Stand Up To Cancer. It’s a brilliant cause and we’re excited to be creating cross-platform content to match the rebellious nature of this year’s campaign.”

We’ve made amazing progress against cancer in the past few decades. But, one in two people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, so there is still more work to be done which is why we need everyone to get involved and help kick cancer’s ass!”
