Mortons launches Top 400 Retailer Club

In a new initiative, Mortons Media Group is undertaking to support independent retail participation in its portfolio and reward the hard work that stores have carried out on its behalf.

Mortons Media Group has a portfolio of 16 titles, covering the Classic and Modern Motorcycle categories as well as Heritage, Rail and a top Gardening magazine.

Mortons Media Group sold 1.9 million copies of its titles in 2010.

Mortons Media Group has identified the top 400 independent retailers for its titles in the UK and Ireland, in terms of total retail sales value (RSV) across its portfolio.

As a way of thanking these stores for their support and encouraging them to deliver better displays in-store and better sales, Mortons Media Group is offering these 400 outlets the chance to win cash prizes.

Members of the Mortons Top 400 Club will be judged on four criteria and there are prizes for each of them each quarter:

• Biggest copy sales increase over the quarter - £100 per quarter.

• Largest percentage increase in sales over the quarter - £100 per quarter.

• Best in-store display of Point of Sale (PoS) material - £50 per quarter.

• Mystery shopper prizes - £50 spot prizes for correct PoS display.

Mortons Media Group has segmented its portfolio into four categories (‘Classic Bikes’, ‘Modern Bikes’, ‘Heritage’ and ‘Lifestyle’) and each quarter members of the Mortons Top 400 Club will be entered into the competition for each of these categories.

Using average sales of the titles from the period January to March 2011 as the base, Mortons Media Group will award the £100 prizes to the two members who have achieved the biggest sales increase and the largest percentage increase in sales for each category for that quarter.

Along with a letter, welcoming the selected 400 members to Mortons Top 400 Club, Mortons Media Group has sent them a window poster, shelftalkers and home news delivery /magazine ordering forms.

Mortons Media Group will send each member of the Mortons Top 400 Club a quarterly newsletter which will provide updates on Mortons titles and promotions, as well as the winners from the previous quarter and photographs of displays that have been sent in.
