MOTO & MotoX magazines to merge

Factory Media, one of Europe’s leading extreme sports media owner, has announced the acquisition of MotoX magazine.

The acquisition will see MotoX join MOTO magazine, the existing Factory Media motocross title to form a combined magazine carrying the MOTO branding.  The exponential growth of the MOTO brand in the past 12 months will be further strengthened with the addition of MotoX, which brings history, knowledge and a strong reader base, says the publisher.  The two titles combined share over 50% of UK motocross magazine sales.

Also joining Factory Media will be MotoX editor Ben Johnson, who will continue his role as editor, under the editorial direction of Adam Duckworth.

Adam Duckworth, editorial Director said: “MOTO magazine has introduced a new excitement and invigorated the motocross scene over the past 12 months, and to bring the talents of MotoX on board is a natural progression.  I am delighted to have Ben as editor on this new project to truly integrate the best of MotoX and MOTO magazines to form the strongest motocross publication.  Readers will benefit with a bigger, better motocross magazine featuring the scene’s best contributors”

Ben Johnson, editor said: “I am excited to be joining MotoX in the move to Factory Media, and would first like to assure existing MotoX readers that the new MOTO magazine will truly represent the best of what both titles brought to the motocross scene.  This is an exciting start to the 2010 season, and we have a lot of plans and ideas that we can bring to the magazine with the backing of Factory Media and their online audience”

The first combined magazine will be Issue 54 of MOTO, on sale 8th April in the form of a "bumper" sized 164-page issue to encompass the best of both magazines and form the biggest motocross magazine available on the newsstand. Distribution of the title will be increased to reach new and existing magazine retailers.

MOTO magazine is part of the motocross portfolio at Factory Media which includes the websites mxtrax.co.uk and MPORA.com to form the largest motocross audience in the UK.  With the addition of MotoX, Factory Media claims it will reach 80% of the motocross audience.
