Practical Caravan holds a dominant position within its market, according to the publisher, as the only title selling more than 40,000 copies a month. Editor Nigel Donnelly, who masterminded the changes, says: “Practical Caravan is overwhelmingly dominant on the newsstand, but with caravan holidays on the increase, we wanted to make sure we remain the default choice for caravanners who want to be informed and inspired."
“What started as a minor tweak turned into a major revamp and the results are great. Caravan manufacturers are actually reporting year-on-year increases in new caravan sales, site bookings are through the roof and we are confident that our new look gives us an unassailable advantage
over our rivals.”
Publishing director Andrew Golby adds: “The new magazine is a credit to Nigel and the whole team. After a difficult year in 2008, the caravan industry is getting back on its feet, and holidaying in Britain is back in vogue. With lots of new customers in the market, this is a great moment to strengthen our product and I’m confident we’ll reap the rewards over the coming months.”
Work is already underway on a similar root-and-branch overhaul of Practical Motorhome, which will be on sale before the end of the summer.
