NME and Nikon host photography exhibition

Internationally famous music brand NME and camera manufacturer Nikon are to host an exhibition for the winning photographers of the 2011 NME Music Photography Awards competition.

The NME Music Photography Awards with Nikon aims to find the most stunning and original music photography from both amateur and professional photographers.

Open to the public and free to attend, the exhibition of winning images will run from 6th - 11th January at theprintspace (http://www.theprintspace.co.uk/) in London, with an opening night private view on 5th January.

Amongst the work on display will be a collection from Dean Chalkley, winner of the Outstanding Contribution to Music Photography Award.

"This is the second year we've run this competition and it gives both amateur and professional photographers a chance to get their work seen by some of the biggest names in music photography. The exhibition is a great way to end the campaign." says Rob Hunt, head of Creative Media, IPC Inspire men & music.

Having been rated by www.NME.com users, entries were then judged by a specially selected expert panel headed by photo director for NME and NME.com Marian Paterson, alongside renowned music photographer and 2010’s Outstanding Contribution winner, Andy Willsher.

Images from categories including Live, Portrait, Reportage, Festivals, and Under-18s will be showcased at the exhibition, as well as winning work by professional photographers in the Photographer of the Year and Outstanding Contribution categories.

A picture gallery on NME.COM will also showcase some of the best photography on a co-branded competition microsite which will be promoted via social media.

Jeremy Gilbert, group marketing manager at Nikon UK Ltd, adds: “We’re delighted to be supporting this competition which celebrates the work of passionate music photographers of all levels and look forward to seeing the images come to life in the exhibition.”
