PA appoints new Head of Video

Press Association (PA) has appointed Alex Rothwell as its new Head of Video.

Alex joins from The FA, where he was Senior Video Manager, responsible for all of the association’s video content, including the England national teams, FA Cup and Wembley.

He overhauled the entire video production process at The FA, including the re-launch of FATV across YouTube and the FA.com, with new video formats, graphics and a new in-house edit suite. Prior to the FA, Alex was the Video Content and Production Manager at MSN, and Production Editor at Magicalia (now Immediate Media).

Alex joins PA as the agency completely revamps its video service, with new high end cameras and superfast ingest system ensuring HD content is delivered rapidly to customers around the clock, says the Press Association.

The PA’s UK-wide team of video journalists, multi-skilled reporters and photographers will concentrate on rapidly delivered clips from the field, shorter packages with high production values and must-see viral video.

Peter Clifton, PA’s Editor in Chief, said: “Alex joins an experienced team and his appointment signals our commitment to put video at the heart of PA going forward. We are investing significantly in our video proposition in response to growing demand and we will continue to find new innovative ways to bring our content to life.”

Alex’s appointment follows on from a number of senior additions at the agency; this has included Darren Waters, as Head of Social, Data and Graphics, a new Entertainment Editor, Kerri-Ann Roper, and Finance Editor Damian Clarkson. Damian’s appointment signals a renewed focus on finance and business. He joined from AOL where he was Money Editor.

Alex’s appointment is effective immediately.
