Polestar wins NatMag’s direct mail contract

Polestar has extended its relationship with The National Magazine Company after being awarded production of the publisher's annual direct mail campaign for the first time.

The campaign comprises over one million items which will be mailed to the databases of 23 leading titles during 2010.

The work will be carried out at Polestar Applied Solutions plant in Nottingham, after the company successfully tendered for the contract. Heidi Kenyon-Smith, Head of Acquisition Marketing at The National Magazine Company, said: "We have worked very successfully with another supplier for many years, but we have decided to use Polestar this time after an impressive professional presentation demonstrated their enthusiasm for this market and made us feel that, although not one of their largest on the direct mail side, we would be a valued customer. Their ability to carry out the work was never in doubt but we were also impressed by their account management, their experience and innovation, all of which is supported by the digital technology at Nottingham. We have been very happy with the work carried out so far."

Andrew Wood of Polestar Applied Solutions adds: "We have got off to an excellent start, with the first three mailings each using one of the three different production processes we are able to offer within our facilities, including litho printing with laser personalisation, with digital production on our Xerox iGen and on the Océ Jetstream, which has the added advantage of providing personalisation in colour."

He continues: "We are already comfortable as a team and have been brainstorming ideas on formats and testing to help achieve the desired response rates, including expanding what we are doing into complementary cross media solutions, where appropriate."

Polestar UK Print Key Account Director Avril Jenkins concludes: "This is where the breadth of Polestar’s services comes into play and we are able to develop already successful relationships into true partnerships."
