The Economist has announced that “Boom!”, the newest limited series narrative podcast launched on July 4th 2024. Hosted by US editor John Prideaux, the publisher says the series will examine why two old, unpopular men are the main candidates for the world’s most demanding job.
The podcast debuts ahead of the Republican National Convention beginning July 15th and will finish in time for the Democratic convention starting August 19th, added The Economist.
Told through interviews with people from the same generation as Donald Trump and Joe Biden, The Economist says the series examines the political education of a generation. The cast includes people who were in the room for major historical moments, but the series deliberately avoids those inclined to defend their legacies in favour of those ready for frank revelations. Over six episodes, listeners will get inside the mindset of a generation at six decisive points in their political journey: 1968, 1978, 1987, 1994, 2008, 2020.
“Boom!” is brought to you by the same team behind “The Prince”, “Next Year in Moscow”, and “The Modi Raj”.
