Sally Palmer: “Trust members have been telling us for many years that they would like the option to read their magazine digitally.”

The National Trust has announced the launch of a digital edition of its members’ magazine in an interactive digital platform. For the first time, the National Trust says more than 5.5 million members can choose if they would like to receive a print or digital version of National Trust Magazine, which has a circulation of 2.6 million.

The new digital edition has been designed to offer an enhanced interactive digital experience. The first issue includes the option to listen to selected features read aloud, animation, videos, podcasts and more, added the National Trust. It was available from 12 September.

Sally Palmer, editor of National Trust Magazine, says: “Trust members have been telling us for many years that they would like the option to read their magazine digitally. Some prefer the ease and convenience of being able to read their magazine on their devices wherever they are, orwould like to help us use less paper and reduce postage costs.

“The digital magazine is still recognisably National Trust Magazine, with all the same high-quality features and brand alignment our readers expect. But it makes the most of elements we can only bring to them through a digital experience. We believe we’re the first membership organisation in the UK to provide a digital magazine in precisely this format.

“We’re delighted with the results and can’t wait to share it with members.”

Mel Nursaw, the National Trust’s senior supporter development manager, says: “We're excited to unveil our new digital magazine and can't wait to hear what our members think. While it still preserves everything that is loved about the print magazine, it now offers enhanced content and features unique to the digital format. Members can choose whether they want their magazine digitally or printed: our priority is to provide flexibility and choice.”
