UK Newsstand Launch: Art in America

Art in America, a monthly US title, goes on sale for the first time on the UK newsstand on 1 February, priced £6.50.

According to distributors COMAG: “Published in the U.S. since 1913, Art in America focuses on all aspects and genres of the contemporary art world. Primarily covering visual art in the U.S., the title also features artists, studios, shows, gallery openings and art fairs from across the globe.

Renowned for a style which is both scholarly and readable, Art in America is widely read by artists, dealers, collectors, historians and art professionals, as well as keen amateurs with an interest in the world of contemporary art and the people who make it.

From painting, sculpture and photography, to installation art, performance art and video art, by way of architecture in exhibition and everything in between, Art in America covers every genre of the subject with in-depth articles, exclusive interviews and features to bring the reader to the very heart of the contemporary art scene.

Every issue of Art in America has extensive coverage of all the news, show reviews, profiles of artists and genres, updates about art movements as well as international event schedules, engaging critical essays, commentary and lively opinion.

Previously only available in the UK in limited numbers from selected retail outlets, as of the January issue, Art in America is being made available nationwide to capitalise on the growing popularity of contemporary art.

The January issue will have a critical review of Los Angeles art initiative Pacific Standard Time, an ‘In the Studio’ feature with sculptor Haim Steinbeck and a feature on the career of ceramics artist Arlene Shechet. As well as all this, the January issue will have an exclusive interview with Chinese artist Ai Weiwei, about his life and work.

Future issues will concentrate on particular disciplines of contemporary art; February will cover sculpture, while March has a focus on photography. With interviews, career reviews and features, with and about various people associated with these genres.”
