Alastair Gornall joins Centaur’s Exhibitions Division

Centaur Media has announced the appointment of Alastair Gornall as non-executive chairman of its Exhibitions Division.

Until recently, Alastair was CEO at Reed Exhibitions Ltd, part of Reed Elsevier plc, who are the world’s largest exhibitions organiser. During his time at Reed, Alastair had responsibility for a portfolio of 45 international b2b exhibitions, including events in Europe, China, India, the Middle East and the Americas.

Centaur’s Chief Executive, Geoff Wilmot, said: "I am delighted to welcome Alastair to this new role at Centaur. We see exhibitions as a key part of our growth strategy for the future, as they offer a number of attractive characteristics to a broad-based media business such as Centaur.

Alastair is a highly creative media professional. He has exceptional experience of running a large international exhibitions business and I am confident that he will add great value to the business as he works with Calum Taylor, MD of Centaur Exhibitions, to deliver this important part of our growth strategy. Growth is expected to come from a combination of further new show launches and selected acquisitions."

Centaur’s exhibition portfolio includes shows in the construction, marketing, business travel and industrial sectors. Centaur Exhibitions currently has a predominantly UK focus but in recent years has launched shows in Dusseldorf, Dubai and Brussels.
