Autocar Next Generation Award 2010

Autocar has launched the 2010 Next Generation Award with a new micro-site: nextgen.autocar.co.uk

After the success of the first Next Generation Award last year, Autocar is again on the search for the automotive leaders of tomorrow.

Students can enter this competition for a chance to win a £7500 cash prize and a substantial programme of work experience. The runners-up will receive invaluable career advice, networking opportunities and further assistance with work experience.

“We were delighted with the quality of the entrants last year and we’re expecting even more this year,” says Steve Cropley, Autocar editor-in-chief. “The automotive business – especially in Britain – is a fantastic place to launch a career. It needs exactly huge quantities of the very qualities young people have to offer: energy and fresh thinking.”

The 2009 winner, transport design student Mohsin Basharmal has worked in Next Generation Award placements with all the sponsors over the last year. “I was exposed to a variety of professional skills and experiences,” he explained, “which are transferable when I start my career in the outside world.

“During my placement I have met some professional people and this has given me the opportunity to build a profile in the professional world, as I can achieve many goals through networking and a variety of work experiences.”

The 2010 Next Generation Award is run in partnership with Courland Automotive Practice – the automotive people specialists, and The Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders for students in automotive-related disciplines. Award sponsors for 2010 will be Honda UK, the Marshall Motor Group, the Mercedes-Benz Retail Group, the Peugeot Motor Company and Toyota Great Britain.
