BBC’s Matt Teeman honoured with PPA Award

Matt Teeman, Director of Advertising Sales at BBC Magazines and Chairman of the PPA Marketing Board, has been named as the recipient of the 2011 PPA Chairman's Award.

Teeman (pictured centre) was handed the award by Charles Reed (on the right), PPA Chairman and Group Managing Director of William Reed Business Media, at a reception attended by senior figures from the publishing industry at the Mall Galleries, London on July 4.

Teeman has been a member of the PPA Marketing board since 2006 and succeeded Bauer Media Chief Executive Officer Paul Keenan as Chairman in May 2009. In 2010 he oversaw the creation of a new PPA Marketing web channel, the development of an email newsletter aimed at communicating the strengths of magazine media to the advertising community, and the launch of Future of Publishing, a campaign exploring the rapidly evolving magazine publishing sector which featured video interview with 20 senior industry figures.

Charles Reed said: “I’m delighted to present this year’s PPA Chairman’s Award to Matt Teeman, who has been inspirational in his leadership of this group and the ongoing transformation of PPA Marketing.”

Barry McIlheney (on the left), CEO of the PPA, said: “The PPA Chairman’s Award is given to an individual from a PPA member company who has made a significant contribution to our activities over the past 12 months and Matt stands out for the enthusiasm, commitment and drive he has shown in leading the PPA Marketing Board.”

He added: “Communicating the power of magazine brands to advertisers, planners and media buyers is a vital part of the PPA’s work and we’ve generated real positive momentum in this area thanks to Matt and the rest of the PPA Marketing team.”
