FourFourTwo names new editor

Haymarket Consumer Media has appointed David Hall as the new editor of FourFourTwo, the adult football magazine.

David Hall (pictured) arrives from a successful stint with Haymarket Network, most recently editing SPIKES magazine and website, for which he was named Editor of the Year in the Association of Publishing Agencies (APA) International Customer Publishing Awards.

He replaces Hugh Sleight who has vacated the editor’s chair after almost five years to become brand director with responsibility for editorial strategy and product development.

“As you’d expect, the standard of applications for one of the most coveted jobs in magazines was extremely high but David shone throughout a rigorous application process,” said Sleight.

“Anyone who has seen SPIKES will know that he is an outstanding magazine maker and that, allied with his football knowledge, made him the perfect person for the job. With the World Cup approaching and circulation strong despite the recession, this an exciting time for FourFourTwo and I’m certain that under David’s leadership the magazine will go from strength to strength.”

Mark Payton, editorial director of Haymarket Consumer Media, added: “David is an excellent magazine editor, with a wonderful blend of creative skill and a real passion for football. I’m looking forward to seeing the title evolve under his leadership – he’s the perfect man for the job.”
