Good Housekeeping publishes regional edition

Good Housekeeping magazine, the SuperBrand-accredited women’s lifestyle title published by the National Magazine Company, has produced its first-ever regional edition, to go on sale across 6,000 outlets in the North West.

Good Housekeeping’s December issue, which goes on sale November 4, includes ten pages of local editorial content especially for readers in Merseyside, Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire and North Wales, along with six ad pages targeted to the region.

The 16 page section includes pages of Christmas guides to gifts sourced locally in the North West, real-life stories from successful North-Western female businesswomen, and a column from Liverpudlian journalist Susan Lee. It also showcases the best travel destinations, restaurants, and events in the region, and features local food and produce.

The regional edition will be available on both newsstands and to subscribers, in both standard and travel sizes. In total, 70,000 copies of the edition have been produced for the North West.

Good Housekeeping is the National Magazine Company’s longest-running title. Launched in 1922, it now claims to sell over 422,000 copies every month and offers its readers food advice, celebrity interviews, fashion, tips for the home and the “very best in consumer advice”. The Good Housekeeping Institute, famed for its ‘Three T’s: Tried, Tested, Trusted’, has been a recognised authority on consumer testing and recommendations for over 85 years, according to the publishers.

Liz Kershaw, Executive Group Publishing Director, Good Housekeeping, says: “This is a fantastic first for Good Housekeeping, and really allows us to focus on a specific area of our readership. Other European countries have produced regional editions of magazines for some time now, and we feel that the UK has a strong regional culture that should also be catered for. We look forward to the results of the first issue and developing the idea into other regions across the UK in the future.”

Lindsay Nicholson (pictured), Editorial Director, Good Housekeeping, says, “When we decided to develop the regional edition of Good Housekeeping, the North West felt like the obvious choice to launch first. It has such a strong identity and is so rich with culture, writing the editorial was a dream. Every month we endeavour to make Good Housekeeping truly nationwide, and relevant to all readers no matter where they live, but it’s lovely to be able to treat the North West to specific content from their own doorsteps.”
