Smartico says the ‘Smart Ads’ service offers Iliffe’s small or medium-sized advertisers the full package of a digital banner ad plus landing page, exclusive positions on the newspaper websites, guaranteed ad impressions and a visual reporting dashboard that shows attention instead of clicks - for less than £100.

After the successful implementation of ‘Smart Ads’ in New Milton, Newbury and Stratford in the middle of the year, Iliffe Media Group has announced it is to roll-out its partnership with Smartico to introduce ‘Smart Ads’ to further 20 titles of the group.

Ricky Allan, chief revenue officer at Iliffe Media Group: "Smart Ads worked exceptionally well for our titles in Newbury, New Milton and Stratford which is why we are now rolling it out to 20 more titles including Kent Online, Lincs Online, Suffolk News and Cambridge Independent. We see that Smart Ads brings significant new advertising opportunities to local SMBs. The market adoption by sales teams, users and advertisers is great and we reached 100+ new ads per week within 20 days of launching the first title.”

Christian Scherbel, CEO of Smartico adds: “The beauty of Smart Ads is the ease of use for readers, sales teams, and the advertisers alike. Everyone deserves great ads and high-quality destination pages that engage users and do not only focus on the mere click. We believe that this offers a great chance for publishers to win back local advertisers from Meta and Google, and we are convinced that ‘Smart Ads’ is exactly the product to succeed with this.”

‘Smart Ads’ allows news publishers to profitably monetise on the long tail of small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) in digital – especially those that have been loyal print advertisers but reluctant with relevant digital budgets, added Smartico. ‘Smart Ads’ boosts digital sales for smaller customers by scaling digital display ad campaigns including creatives and landing pages from just a print ad or social media post as an input – using the power of AI and ‘human touch’. The core of Smartico’s ‘Smart Ads’, added the company, is a success-based billing model.
