Imagine Publishing's flagship videogames website, NowGamer.com first went live in February 2009 and has grown to a peak of over two million monthly unique users, says Imagine Publishing.
With the appointment of a new editorial and digital team in 2014, the decision was taken to fundamentally transform the site and its content policy to take advantage of a new flexible publishing platform, increased mobile traffic, and a desire from clients for a higher level of native advertising.
According to the publishers, the relaunched NowGamer.com focuses on gaming culture rather than simply reporting PR-fed gaming news and stage-managed preview events, engaging with gamers in a way that's relevant to them. Featuring input from the award-winning teams behind games™, Retro Gamer, Play and X-ONE, this editorial content is delivered on a fast, responsive mobile-friendly site that's easy to navigate and encourages sharing and interaction.
"We thought it was important to change what NowGamer.com was talking about to reflect what how our readers are consuming and enjoying games in 2014" said Ryan King, Editor in Chief. "We saw that gaming sites tend to unknowingly trend towards industry content or marketing terms, and we wanted to break free from that, allowing us to feature irreverent, silly and fun stories that gamers are more passionate about."
"The new NowGamer.com site marks a leap forward for us in terms of how we can best serve and engage with our gamer community across phone, tablet and desktop," said Martin Porter, Head of Digital. "With such a strong editorial team and focus, the NowGamer.com experience is going to be something that we'll be looking to grow considerably in the future."
In October last year, NowGamer.com set a new traffic record, attracting over 2 million unique users (source: Google Analytics), says Imagine Publishing.
