New look – and more pages – for Film Stories

The October edition of Film Stories has a new look and increased pagination, making it, say the publishers, the UK’s biggest film magazine.

New look – and more pages – for Film Stories
Simon Brew: “As Film Stories magazine celebrates its fifth birthday, I wanted to take the next step in its evolution.”

With the October 2023 edition of Film Stories, pagination has increased to 168 pages per issue.

The new look issue features the sci-fi thriller film Foe on its front cover and a tranche of new contributors, including a movie music section from Charlie Brigden, American horror expert Scott Weinberg, and Absolute Radio presenter Andy Bush’s Baddies At Home cartoons.

Simon Brew, Editor and Founder of Film Stories said: “I’m passionate about films, and passionate about magazines: at a time when both are facing sizeable challenges, I wanted to fight back. I grew up adoring and devouring huge film magazines, where there was space to explore so much in and around the world of movies. As Film Stories magazine celebrates its fifth birthday, I wanted to take the next step in its evolution, and adding 68 more pages is one of the changes I’m bringing in.

“What we've been looking to deliver with the changes to the magazine - from words through to design - is a big, chunky magazine, that's clear and very easy to read, and fully of nerdy details. We've the space to explore so much more, to let pictures breathe more, but none of it at the expense of readability. We've worked really hard on that.”

According to the publishers, every issue of Film Stories will be this new 168 page format moving forwards, still on top quality paper, published seven times a year.

Film Stories was launched as a podcast in 2018 by Simon Brew and digs into the stories behind popular movies. The podcast was followed by a magazine and a website, all of which look at the stories behind the films.
