Flexible and Printed Electronics is the first journal to bring together both fundamental science and novel technological applications in this field, says IOP Publishing.
Ananth Dodabalapur, Editor-in-Chief of FPE said: "Flexible and printed electronics is a very dynamic, rapidly evolving, and fast-moving field which is changing the way we think about electronics and electronic devices. Research in the field has already had significant societal impact and such trends will only grow stronger in future. I am confident that FPE will soon establish itself as the journal of choice for researchers working in this rapidly developing area."
Jamie Hutchins, Publishing Director at IOP Publishing said: "Flexible and Printed Electronics was launched in response to direct feedback from researchers across a diverse range of communities requesting a single, high quality forum for publication of work in this field. Importantly, in addition to an Editorial Board made up of highly distinguished top researchers from leading academic institutions around the world, FPE will also feature an Industrial Advisory Board comprising members from corporate R&D and industry groups to provide perspectives from industry. This reflects the highly interdisciplinary nature of the field which is of importance to academic and commercial researchers alike."
Flexible and Printed Electronics will be published under a hybrid subscription model and will offer a gold open access option which means authors can choose to pay an article publication charge (APC) and make accepted papers available at no cost to readers under a CC BY 3.0 licence.
As part of the launch plan, all content in Flexible and Printed Electronics will be free to read for individual users, universities and academic research institutes throughout 2015 and 2016.
The journal team is now actively commissioning content for Flexible and Printed Electronics, and submissions are being invited from across the flexible and printed electronics community. The journal will be open for general submissions shortly.
