Media Scotland launches daily business news site

Insider.co.uk is a little sister to Business Insider magazine which has an audited circulation of 35,000.

Led by Editor Ken Symon the Insider team aims to provide Scottish businesses with a rich mix of live breaking city news, expert analysis and original economic data.

Insider also comes with an email bulletin - a breakfast sized digest for busy executives.

Michele Aaen, Commercial Director, Business Insider said: "We are delighted to be investing in business journalism in Scotland. At a time of significant national and international developments, there has never been a greater need for business leaders to be informed than now. We are being disruptive, leading the way with a service no one else is offering.”

With no paywall, the journalism will be funded fully by advertising, sponsorship and associated events. Pre-launch over 30,000 articles were loaded on to the new site to provide a rich content base.

Editor Ken Symon said: “Insider.co.uk will report live business news and analysis from throughout Scotland each business day. To mark this we are doing launch events in four major cities across the country, in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee. We want insider.co.uk to be the go-to site for live Scottish business and so we want to hear the views from business people on what information they most need to run and grow their businesses. Insider.co.uk – incisive, informed, insightful.”

Allan Rennie, Managing Director, said: "At a time of uncertainty over Brexit, Trump and Indyref2 there is a thirst for serious business news, analysis and data. Insider is not political but we have a brilliant team of journalists who will unashamedly champion Scottish business."

Insider.co.uk is the second major new digital brand launched by Media Scotland in the last 12 months. Glasgow Live launched in April 2016 and has a monthly audience of 1.3million, mostly under 35s, says Media Scotland.
