New platform for Mirror.co.uk

Mirror.co.uk yesterday moved onto a new platform, that aims to deliver faster pages and a better user experience.

The new website adapts to its environment, including the size of the user’s screen, the logos, colours and layouts and there are different views on each page – desktop, tablet landscape, tablet portrait and mobile, say the publishers.

Article pages load twice as quickly, increasing the impact of live blogs, a key pillar of Mirror Online’s digital offering.

Significantly, says the Mirror, the new framework also provides better ad viewability, benefiting advertisers and readers alike.

The new website design was served to 1% of Mirror.co.uk audiences in June, with feedback informing design changes.

Chris Russell, Product Director, Trinity Mirror Digital, said: “The new design really focuses in on user experience, making content quicker and easier to access.

“As our audience continues to grow we know how important it is to keep improving user experience, encouraging readers to consume more news on our site and return more often.”

The redesign is part of Trinity Mirror wider ‘Chameleon’ project, which will see new websites rolled out across its portfolio. A number of regional websites have already moved onto the new platform including manchestereveningnews.co.uk, liverpoolecho.co.uk and chroniclelive.co.uk.
