Peter Harris leaving Centaur Media after 25 years

Peter Harris, the founder of Homebuilding & Renovating magazine, is calling time on a Centaur Media career lasting more than a quarter of a century.

The founding editor of Homebuilding & Renovating, a magazine that provides inspiration and advice for those embarking on home building projects, will leave the multi-platform media group in April.

As well as adding a strong digital product and a series of exhibitions to the Homebuilding & Renovating brand, Harris has led Centaur Media’s Home Interest portfolio that includes Real Homes and Period Living Magazines as joint Managing Director.

Andria Vidler, Centaur Media CEO said: “Peter has been a vital part of this business for 25 years. He can claim credit for founding a very successful brand and a lot more besides. He has steered the Home Interest portfolio, along with his colleague Nick Noble, very successfully and we will all miss his considerable skills and expertise across print, digital and exhibitions, not to mention his good humour and professionalism.”

Peter Harris said: “Whether it was the seat-of-the-pants launch during the recession of the 1990s, the early adoption of digital, the development of exhibitions or the acquisition of other titles it’s been quite a journey. We’ve succeeded in creating a highly profitable group of niche brands and I’m looking forward to seeing just how much further they can go.”

Homebuilding & Renovating registered a 9% actively purchased circulation increase in the ABCs for 2014, a 25% year-on-year increase in web visits and a 10% increase in exhibition visitors, says Centaur.
