Andrew Lee (pictured), managing director of Polestar Wheatons, says: "We are delighted to have received these accreditations. This proves our commitment to environmental management as well as quality process controls within our business. We hope by achieving these international standards, our customers, old and new, will feel ever more confident in placing their business with Wheatons."
He continues: "With our existing accreditation of FSC and PEFC status, we now have the full set, which is a fantastic achievement. For a site offering a range of technology, from web offset and sheet fed litho to digital, it is quite a complicated set of processes to be assessed and accredited, and my thanks go to my team for their hard work, especially Dale Buckingham who has worked tirelessly to achieve this goal."
ISO 14001 covers environmental management compliance and control, including tasks such as monitoring and measurement, operational control, emergency procedures, environmental records, correct waste management, communications and training. ISO 9001 is the internationally recognised standard for the quality management of businesses. It applies to the processes that create and control the products and services an organisation supplies and prescribes systematic control of activities to ensure that the needs and expectations of customers are met.
The process began at Polestar Wheatons in Exeter a year ago and the accreditation was carried out by SGS. Other Polestar companies with ISO 14001 accreditation include Polestar Chantry, Polestar Chromoworks, Polestar Petty and Polestar Sheffield. Polestar Chantry, Polestar Varnicoat and Polestar Petty also have ISO 9001.
