Q Magazine creates bespoke ‘Leicester Hometown’ cover

To mark publication of the magazine’s world exclusive Kasabian interview, the Q logo will be transformed from red to blue, the colour of the band’s beloved Leicester City football club.

A thousand copies of the collector’s issue, featuring the Leicester Hometown cover, will be sold exclusively in the Leicester area from Tuesday, 14 March.

In the interview, the band, who are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, reminisced about local live music venue, The Shed, jokingly dubbing it their ‘Cavern Club’. In 2014, they went on to headline Glastonbury followed by Leicester’s Victoria Park, playing a sell-out homecoming gig to over 50,000 fans.

Q’s Editor-in-Chief, Phil Alexander, commented: “Kasabian have always been proud of their hometown and this month’s Q cover story reflects that. In order for us to truly understand where they came from, Serge and Tom were kind enough to invite Q to hang out in and around Leicester for two days. As a result – and as Kasabian mark their twentieth anniversary - Q felt it was fitting to produce a special cover of the magazine that celebrates the band and the city that shaped them. It is the first time we’ve ever done what you could call a ‘regional’ cover like that, so we hope the people of Leicester enjoy it.”

Q magazine is on sale on Tuesday 14 March.
