TMG sets record for 1 million subscriptions
Nick Hugh: “We set an ambitious goal for ourselves in 2018 and I am thrilled we have surpassed this milestone.”

In 2018, Telegraph Media Group (TMG) says it set out a bold vision to become a subscription-first business with the goal to reach one million subscriptions by 2023. Of their first million subscriptions, the publisher says more than 700k are digital. Their subscriber engagement is at a record high, continued the publisher, with circa 300k of their subscribers now using their app each day. TMG says Q3 subscription figures, independently verified by PwC, will be released in October and reflect this milestone.

TMG’s says their strategy has enabled ongoing investment in their journalism, publishing capabilities and reader experience. There are now many ways readers can engage with their journalism: via the newspaper and website, the app and newsletters, liveblogs, podcasts, video and social media. These ongoing investments will ensure our journalism continues to succeed and be valued across the world, the publisher added.

Nick Hugh, CEO of Telegraph Media Group, said: “We set an ambitious goal for ourselves in 2018 and I am thrilled we have surpassed this milestone. As we look to the future, we will continue to grow our subscriptions, develop our subscriber community and set new records for the Telegraph.”
