Wyndeham awarded FOGRA Certification for Colour Management

Wyndeham Group has announced that it has been awarded the FOGRA - Process Standard Offset (PS0) certification for colour management.

Wyndeham claims to be the first heat-set web offset printer in the UK to achieve FOGRA certification, which is in conformance with the international standardization series ISO 12647. The process enables Wyndeham to verify printed products to the FOGRA standard, providing flexibility and stability of quality wherever print is placed around the Group’s print sites.

Wyndeham has been producing publications for its key publishing and commercial clients using the FOGRA 39L datasets since 2007. With the release of ISO compliant 45L and updated PSO ICC profiles in 2009, the Group made the move towards certifying its internal processes.

To achieve certification, trials were carried out on the suite of Rotoman and Lithoman presses, adhering to strict criteria under the watchful eye of the FOGRA certification representative. Colour specialists from across the Group attended a series of FOGRA colour training workshops where the front end systems, file verification processes and proofing all came under scrutiny.  The results were audited by FOGRA’s headquarters in Munich and passed in June.

Barry Fitzpatrick, Group Technical Director, Wyndeham Group said: “The majority of U.K publishers use FOGRA datasets to convert their images and rely on FOGRA certified proofs for approval so it made sense to go down this route. Achieving FOGRA certification has enabled us to respond to the quality demands of our clients by ensuring colour consistency remains manageable and stable throughout the process.”
