Matt Carry: “The team at Prime Creative have been fantastic and they have really helped us deliver on our aims.”

Acorn Web, a West Yorkshire based printer, says it first committed to a review of its online marketing back in Summer 2023. The company says it invited proposals from three local design agencies and following a round of sampling and interviews, it engaged the team at Prime Creative to build a new website and shoot a new video with the brief of bringing two specific areas into focus.

Matt Carry, sales director for Acorn said: “Our website was looking tired. We knew the design needed improvement and changes in technology had meant there were now some incompatibilities. Whilst it still did a decent enough job of highlighting our strategy in terms of the products we produce; it wasn’t accurately reflecting what was going on in the business or what we were talking to our customers about. To showcase this, we wanted a modern, clean, engaging website that had a much greater use of video. It was important that our customers could clearly see their journey from enquiry through to delivery. We also wanted to champion the great work that our manufacturing team does and share what they thought about working at Acorn. The other area that needed a complete overhaul was our environmental pages. We’ve made several key decisions to reduce our impact on the world and felt these were worth shouting about. The team at Prime Creative have been fantastic and they have really helped us deliver on our aims”.

Sam Cox, design director for Prime Creative said: “After our initial discussions with Acorn we knew we would complement each other well given that Acorn is a progressive business open to new ideas and different ways of working. We were excited to see how they wanted to push their business digitally with a new look and feel across all platforms. We immediately recognised what their ambitions were regarding sustainability and how all the team at Acorn really make it a great place to work, something that we also feel is important within our business. We drafted together our initial visions on how this could be achieved and the best ways to showcase what they are about. Our main focus for the website was on the customer journey, fantastic sustainable efforts, industry-leading service and recruitment which would help the business continue to grow.

"A combination of a new website and a series of videos, including team spotlights and a show reel would all help create the impact that we were wanting to achieve to push the brand further. The spotlight videos also allowed us to get up close and personal with some of Acorn's amazingly charismatic and hardworking team, which was both interesting and insightful to see the role each individual plays within the company.

"Prime Creative has thoroughly enjoyed working as a creative partner on these projects. We are delighted with the result and excited about the future of supporting Acorn's marketing team and how we can push that even further.”

Acorn says it employs 129 staff at its factory in Normanton and works with 113 publishers producing over 300 magazines. In the year ending 30th September 2023, it posted sales of £26m.
