Adam Clayton joins GQ as Contributing Arts Editor

U2 bass guitarist Adam Clayton joins British GQ as Contributing Arts Editor, it was announced last week by Editor Dylan Jones.

The first column by Clayton will appear in the May issue of the magazine, exploring the impact of the work of Allen Jones.

“I’m thrilled that Adam is joining us. A peerless musician, his passion for contemporary art is equally as engaging. We’re delighted readers of GQ will be able to enjoy his insightful views on what’s most compelling in the world of art today,” commented Jones.

“For me music and art are inextricably linked and I don’t think I’m the only one who feels that. I’d love to see contemporary art be as popular and available as pop music,” added Clayton.

As U2’s first manager, U2’s bassist Adam Clayton started collecting contemporary art with his first earnings. His group has released 13 studio albums and sold more than 170 million albums worldwide. He lives in Dublin and has a varied collection with a current interest in post-war Japanese photography.

Clayton joins a stellar masthead, say the publishers, alongside contributors including Alastair Campbell, Bear Grylls, Dermot O’Leary, Julia Peyton-Jones, Tara Bernard, Tracey Emin and Victoria Coren Mitchell.

The May issue of GQ will be on newsstand from 7th April, featuring the first column by Contributing Arts Editor Adam Clayton.
