Daryl Rayner: “The ‘Perpetual and Ongoing Access’ licences are an advantageous option for libraries who want to guarantee permanent access to the magazine’s legacy."

Autocar has expanded its partnership with digital publishing platform Exact Editions by offering libraries ‘Perpetual and Ongoing Access’ subscriptions, which ensure lifetime access to the complete 130-year, 6,600-issue strong digital archive, as well as new weekly issues as they are published, for a one-time fee.

This type of library subscription guarantees students, researchers and automotive enthusiasts worldwide fully-searchable access to historical insights of the automotive industry gone by, and also to Autocar’s future reporting on the evolution of the industry, added Exact Editions.

Autocar has been at each and every notable event in the history of automobiles; from the first public demonstration of cars in 1895 to the launch of ‘The Mini' in 1959 and the arrival of the Ford Fiesta in 1976. Now published by Haymarket Media Group, current issues include feature editorials, car reviews and news.

Exact Editions says its version of ‘Perpetual and Ongoing Access’ subscriptions provide fully-searchable access to complete archives and all future issues in conjunction with preservation archive Portico. Access is IP-authenticated and seamless across web, iOS and Android platforms, the company added.

Darren Pitt, marketing director at Haymarket Media Group, commented: “We are delighted that this long-term solution for libraries is now available alongside annual subscriptions. The depth of Autocar’s archive means it’s truly a treasure trove of automobile information, and it’s amazing that researchers, academics and students can now obtain permanent access that unlocks the past and future of automotive innovation as it happens.”

Daryl Rayner, managing director of Exact Editions, said: “It’s difficult to overstate the cultural importance of the Autocar archive when it comes to automotive history. The ‘Perpetual and Ongoing Access’ licences are an advantageous option for libraries who want to guarantee permanent access to the magazine’s legacy of comprehensive reviews, industry insights, and expert commentary for their current users as well as generations of users to come.”

‘Perpetual and Ongoing Access’ licences to Autocar are available to libraries in the Exact Editions institutional shop here.
