Classic FM worked with music label EMI Music and Opendisc, creators of the enhanced music CD, to put the disc on the cover of its March issue.
It contains music tracks like any CD – in this case, interpretations of Chopin’s music drawn from a new EMI box set. But it will also, for the first time, open the EMI & Virgin Classics Club to people who have not purchased an Opendisc CD directly from EMI.
Inside the Club, readers will find multimedia content including previews of upcoming releases, exclusive and archive audio and video content, podcasts, interviews and an interactive Q&A section.
“EMI’s association with Opendisc means readers who insert the CD into their computer will gain added benefits by being able to access valuable bonus content online,” said Classic FM magazine editor John Evans. “In return, those same readers who give their consent for us to view their Opendisc data afford us a rare and privileged opportunity to learn more about them and their music tastes so that we can continue to produce their first-choice classical music magazine.”
A link on the disc will automatically take Classic FM readers to the online Club when they load it into a computer with an internet connection.
Readers who then subscribe to the Club will also gain 100 Club points, which can be redeemed for a free piece of music from the EMI Classics repertoire.
The March issue of Classic FM Magazine is available from Monday, February 8.
