Guardian hits one million mark

The Guardian will be running a series of pieces across its platforms this week - including a piece on the importance of supporters by Guardian News & Media editor-in-chief Katharine Viner - to thank readers and to encourage others to support its independent journalism, say the publishers.

According to The Guardian, of the million financial contributions received in the last three years:

* 570,000 are current monthly supporters now, of which:

o 340,000 give recurring monthly contributions as members or supporters

o 230,000 subscribe to the Guardian’s print and digital products

* The Guardian has received 600,000 one-off financial contributions since 2016, when this option was first offered.
