Harper’s Bazaar and Town & Country Hire New Deputy Editor

Harper’s Bazaar and Town & Country have announced the appointment of Lydia Slater as Deputy Editor.

Joining the Harper’s Bazaar and Town & Country team on 7th December, Lydia will report to Editor-in-Chief, Justine Picardie. Working in partnership with Justine, she will be responsible for managing editorial creation and production across all Harper’s Bazaar and Town & Country’s platforms, driving editorial innovation for the brands.

Lydia is currently Editor of The Week: Fashion, which she devised and launched in 2013. She is a regular contributor to The Times, and writes for publications including ES Magazine, ELLE Decoration and Stella Magazine. Prior to this, she held senior editing roles at The Sunday Times Style Magazine and ES Magazine.

Lydia has several existing connections to Harper’s Bazaar. She was Features Editor of Harpers & Queen (Harper’s Bazaar’s former name) until 2000, and has since been a Contributing Editor to Harper’s Bazaar and Town & Country. She is also the sister of the outgoing Deputy Editor, Sasha Slater.

Lydia says: “I am thrilled to be joining Harper’s Bazaar and Town & Country. I know both brands well and feel a strong connection to them. They are unparalleled in the luxury market, and make inspiring reading for intelligent, cultured women who love fashion.”

Justine Picardie says: “Lydia is already a wonderfully creative Contributing Editor to Harper’s Bazaar and Town & Country, and I am delighted that she is joining our team as Deputy Editor. She has a sophisticated understanding of luxury editorial, and well-established connections in the industry. I am very much looking forward to working with her.”
