Practical Motorhome first awards ceremony

Practical Motorhome celebrated the publication of its 100th issue with the magazine’s first Awards ceremony.

The event, at Whittlebury Park Golf and Country Club in Northamptonshire, attracted the industry’s great and good – its major manufacturers, biggest dealers and leading campsite owners were all present.

Editor Rob Ganley handed out the gongs for the magazine’s first Motorhome of the Year Awards, for its top 50 motorhome-friendly sites and for its Owner Satisfaction Awards.

“We’re delighted with how the event went for our first outing,” said Ganley. “We had almost 2000 votes from our readers for the awards, and on the day we filled the room with the right people.”

According to Haymarket, guests unanimously praised event organiser Sarah Hossack’s choice of venue and menu, while advertising director Kate Hannam and publishing director Simon Temlett played a major part in putting the event together. Haymarket Consumer MD David Prasher attended to show his support for the debut event.

The publishers said: “Since its launch in 2001, Practical Motorhome has gone from strength to strength. Last year the magazine re-launched, recorded its best-selling issue ever, and reported a 4.8 per cent ABC increase in a very tough year. This made Practical Motorhome the fastest-growing motorhome magazine in the market today.”

“The Awards ceremony was the result of a lot of hard work from everyone involved with Practical Motorhome,” said Ganley. “But it’s really just the beginning – we hope this can grow to become a major industry fixture every year.”
