“We are really proud of this application for iPhone and iPod touch as it’s a great mobile extension of the Radio Times brand and provides an excellent user experience,” said Radio Times publishing director Kathy Day. "Consumers not only want to watch TV and listen to radio on the move, but they also want to know what is available to them, at any time."
The application is available in the UK for £1.79 from Apple’s App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at http://www.radiotimes.com/content/features/iphone-application/.
The application, designed by US company, tvCompass, Inc., is the result of a new deal between Radio Times and US company tvCompass Inc., marks the latest in a series of initiatives from Radio Times’ owner, BBC Worldwide, to bring its content to iPhone and iPod users. Over the past year, says the publisher, BBC Worldwide was the first UK distributor to launch HD content on the platform and has launched many popular television and radio brands on iTunes in the UK, US, France and Germany, with other territory launches planned for 2009. BBC Worldwide’s international trade has been recognised by the Queen, who granted the BBC’s commercial arm with a Queen’s Award for Export.
Radio Times is one of only three magazines to sell over one million copies and is the UK’s biggest-selling weekly magazine by subscription, claims the publisher.
