In addition, SPRYLAB was commissioned to set up a new online shop for print as well as digital subscription packages and to provide technical support in the future.
SPRYLAB, in partnership with A&F Computersysteme, provided the best technical and conceptual proposals for a strong and sustainable forward-looking implementation strategy, says SPRYLAB.
As an internationally active and modern media group, Ringier also relies on digital products in addition to traditional media. Existing products are continuously improved. For the digital remake of all Blick titles, the customer journey for app and web has been completely revised in terms of user friendliness. A major challenge is the tight time window between completion of the print edition as well as the prompt distribution to app and web. Using the Purple DS PDF workflow, says SPRYLAB, guarantees a smooth, fully automated publishing of new digital editions and a simple upgrade with a mobile-optimized reading mode. In addition, a storefront specially developed for Ringier provides all app and web editions with the typical Blick appearance.
Furthermore, a flexible online shop has been developed, which enables customers to purchase digital and print subscriptions. The payment process was also completely redesigned and significantly simplified. For this, an interface between the payment provider Datatrans and the in-house SAP system had to be created and all existing users had to be migrated. Since May, the daily issues of Blick and Blick am Abend
as well as the weekly issue of SonntagsBlicks are available in the app stores for Apple and Android.
York Walterscheid, Director Marketing & Sales at SPRYLAB and Stefan Schärer Head of Sales and Marketing A&F, commented: "We were very pleased not only to accompany Ringier's e- paper projects, but to play a significant role in shaping them. We are delighted that one of Switzerland's highest-circulation newspapers is produced digitally with Purple DS. Purple DS already supports a large number of publishers worldwide in the efficient publication of their content. For Ringier, a large part of the processes has now been automated so that efficient daily publication to all end devices and the web is possible. This means that readers can access the content from anywhere at any time. The fact that we have also been given the opportunity to develop the online shop makes us proud and shows our good partnership and quality.”
Martin Werren, Project Manager Technology & Data at Ringier AG: "We are convinced that we have found a very competent partner in SPRYLAB for the relaunch of Blick e-paper products. With Purple DS we rely on a very powerful production system, with which we can also flexibly implement future requirements. The great competence in IT development and the strength of the team have also induced us to work with SPRYLAB beyond the e-paper app."
