Simon Hollins appointed as CIO of UBM

UBM plc, one of the world's leading B2B event organisers, has announced the appointment of Simon Hollins as Group Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Simon takes up his position on Monday 9 May, including joining the UBM Executive Committee.

UBM is in the process of implementing its 'Events First' strategy. Technology, customer insight and innovation are all key aspects and will enable UBM to maximise the full potential of its portfolio of events, says the company.

Simon will focus on improving UBM's internal technologies and processes whilst creating an IT function that can deliver innovations in how UBM interacts with, and serves, its customers.

Simon has extensive experience as a CIO for large, global companies undergoing transformational change. He has, continues UBM, a proven track record of delivering reliable and cost effective IT infrastructure and the ability to use an organisation's technological know-how to deliver innovative solutions to customers. Most recently Simon was CIO for Oxford University Press where he worked on external digital partnerships and internal systems for improved productivity. Simon previously worked at EMI Music where he delivered digital supply chain and market insight programmes.

Tim Cobbold, Chief Executive of UBM plc, said: "I am delighted Simon is joining UBM. His experience and expertise fit very well with our ‘Events First’ strategy and we are looking forward to working with him."

Simon Hollins commented: "As a global company with strategic goals connected to efficiency, innovation and growth – and external-facing technology focused on pleasing customers – UBM is an exciting company to be joining. I am looking forward to being involved in helping shape the business for the future."
