Success for new Mecca mag

The first issue of the new paid-for customer magazine launched by Result Customer Communications for Mecca has sold out, say the publishers.

According to Result Customer Communications, the new title, ‘Mecca Mag’, saw its 150,000 print run snapped up in just three weeks – immediately making it one of Britain’s biggest selling periodical magazines.

Indeed, the extraordinary sales figures are believed to establish the publication as one of the fastest selling paid-for customer titles ever.

The new magazine sold more than 52,000 copies in its first three days of sale alone.

The launch of the magazine – a bi-monthly title, retailing at £1 - is part of a new brand strategy, devised by marketing director James Condon, who joined Mecca last autumn.

Mr Condon said: "Clearly we’re thrilled with Mecca Mag’s phenomenal success. Our feedback suggests customers feel they are being given a great read as well as fantastic value, which is a tribute to our creative content agency, Result.

"Issue 1 included more than £40 of offers and vouchers, had some great competitions, as well as real-life stories and celebs, so the magazine really is an extension of the brand. It offers a little bit of escapism. The second issue out on 23rd May includes over £60 worth of offers and vouchers thanks to the amazing uptake of the promotions by our readers.

"We believe this magazine entirely catches the mood of the Mecca customer and reflects why people come to Mecca – for the chance to win money, have fun and catch-up with friends and family," added Condon.

Result, based in Shoreditch, East London, also publish Morrisons Magazine, a free customer publication which launched in 2008 and has a certified circulation of 1.4 million.
