Hanazuki is Hasbro’s biggest media launch investment ever and their first ever animated digital series, says Signature Publishing. Free for all to view, it was launched globally on YouTube and the YouTube Kids app at the start of 2017 and has already been watched 9 million+ times in the UK alone.
According to the publishers, Hanazuki follows the adventures of Moonflower girl Hanazuki as she discovers she possesses a great power, which is revealed when she expresses her many moods. This power may just be the key to saving the entire galaxy. As she explores her lunar world, Hanazuki meets strange and humorous characters along the way, including spirited bunny-like creatures called Hemka. Hanazuki encourages viewers to celebrate and explore all their moods, learning there’s no such thing as a bad mood!
Hanazuki will comprise two magazines (56 pages in total), packed with stories, fun, games, surprises and activities aimed at 7 to 9 year olds, packaged in a branded carrier bag along with multiple branded and themed gifts.
As Hasbro’s newest entertainment franchise, the digital series is already supported by a Hanazuki app and an extensive toy range (featuring over 175 collectible treasures and figures, plush items and a Bluetooth-enabled and app-connected wearable bracelet) with apparel, accessories and stationery to follow shortly.
"The Hanazuki magazine will bring the brand to life in a new and immersive way” said Michael Kelly, Head of Global Publishing at Hasbro. "With its focus on moods and emotional empowerment, Hanazuki is such a unique story. Signature has really captured the very essence of this uniqueness in the magazine, and we are thrilled to be working with them on this exciting project.”
“Signature is delighted to be given the opportunity to publish the first ever Hanazuki magazine worldwide,” said Danny Morris, Managing Director. “Working with Hasbro’s amazing Publishing Team we have created a very unique package with two fantastically vibrant magazines and multiple branded gifts in every issue that truly embrace Hanazuki’s mood themes. The support we have received from retail has been fantastic, due to the phenomenal viewing figures, the brand’s unique theme and the stunning artwork, so Hanazuki magazine is sure to be a great success from issue #1. Let the storytelling continue…”
Hanazuki, Full of Treasures magazine launches on 8th of August, priced at £3.99. The package features 36 pages of Hanazuki fun and activities, plus Hanazuki gifts including a 3-piece flavoured lip balm set, scented stickers, mood madness memo notes and a 16 page comic story magazine.
