Loaded appoints Ian Edmondson editor

Ian Edmondson, former head of news at the News of the World, has been appointed as Editor of Loaded.

Ian (pictured) is one of Fleet Street’s best known journalists and was headhunted for the role by the magazine’s managing director Ray Kidd, who also announced Loaded will expand its digital operations.

Mr Kidd said: "The appointment of Ian Edmondson will benefit both the editorial content of the magazine and our business brand extensions. Ian’s experience, enthusiasm and passion for the title will ensure that Loaded will set the agenda for men's lifestyle magazines going forward in a volatile and challenging marketplace.

"With the support of our new owner, Paul Chaplin, there will be investment in the Loaded website and we will be launching an app in the coming months. There are exciting times ahead for a publication that has always led the way as a ground-breaking magazine.

"In addition, we will also launch a Loaded TV channel in the autumn which will offer all our partners and clients an opportunity to tap into a live audience.

"The expanding Loaded team is looking forward to delivering this exciting and fun product."

Ian, who has been running a media consultancy since leaving News International in 2010, said: "I am looking forward to the challenges ahead. The marketplace and business model of all journalism has changed and we must adapt or face the consequences.

"With the support of Ray and the team we will gradually address these issues and develop a better, more robust Loaded across all platforms.

"Our internet plans demonstrate that men's lifestyle magazines have exciting digital content to offer and this expansion will be achieved over the coming months."
