Retail Newsagent unveils refresh

On Thursday 14 October, Retail Newsagent celebrated its new look in style at the Imagination Gallery in Central London.

Leading trade marketers and independent retailers joined the editorial team to unveil the new design.

Retail Newsagent has always had fantastic content” editor Lindsay Sharman said. “Now with this refresh we’ve given the magazine a modern, fresh business look that will make it even easier to use by busy independent retailers. We are confident in the future of local shops and this investment will help them be more successful.”

A new tagline, news. convenience. profit has been introduced to summarise the editorial positioning of the weekly trade magazine, which is aimed at independent retailers.

The refresh comes on the back of three successful years of circulation growth, with copy sales up by 52%, according to ABC figures. It also comes as industry figures show independent shops are driving the success of the convenience retail channel, where sales rose by 6.3% last year to £30.9 billion.

“It is tough being a local retailer but the rewards are there for the independent who is prepared to take on new ideas, focus on customers and work in partnership with suppliers” said Nick Shanagher, Managing Director of Newtrade Publishing.

“The refreshed Retail Newsagent will help its readers to take advantage of these positive trends. Lindsay and her team are doing a great job.”

Retail Newsagent, which is published by Newtrade Publishing Limited, is the only weekly news magazine exclusively aimed at independent news and convenience retailers.
