Customer Direct 2010 award winners

Subscription marketing teams at Hachette Filipacchi and Reed Business Information are celebrating after Elle and Farmer’s Weekly were named magazine of the year in the consumer and business categories at the PPA’s Customer Direct 2010 awards.

The awards, which took place on November 10 at The Brewery in London, recognise and reward excellence in all aspects of subscriptions marketing across 17 categories.

Dennis Publishing and IPC Media were the major winners on the night, each scooping an impressive five awards. The accolade for subscriptions marketing team of the year went to BBC Worldwide (pictured top) and there were also awards for Future Publishing, the National Magazine Company and TSL Education.

The awards ceremony was preceded by a full day conference attended by subscriptions, circulation and one-to-one marketing executives within the magazine publishing sector which blended practical and strategic sessions.

Presentations at the event included the unveiling of groundbreaking new PPA research which draws on pooled subscriptions data from leading consumer magazine publishers to provide a single, industry-wide view of subscription customers.

Nicola Rowe (pictured), Director of Circulation & Member Services at the PPA, said: “Subscriptions – whether in print or across digital platforms - are increasingly important to magazine publishers. The Customer Direct conference and awards provides a unique opportunity both to discuss best practice and reward those who are working hard to deliver excellence in the sector.”

The headline sponsors for Customer Direct 2010 are Air Business, Dovetail, Polestar UK Print, Quadrant Subscription Services and Royal Mail.
