Maney announces US partnership

Maney Publishing is to publish the Journal of Spinal Cord Medicine (JSCM) in partnership with the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals (Washington, USA), from 2011.

For three decades, the Journal has been the premiere publication for spinal cord injury professionals including physicians, scientists, psychologists, social workers, researchers, nurses, and therapists. Its mission is to publish peer-reviewed articles encompassing the field of spinal cord medicine leading to excellence in practice, education, research, policy development, and academic administration. The JSCM has recently been underwritten and distributed by Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA), who remain the major partner of ASCIP and sponsor of the Journal.

The Journal will be available online for the first time via IngentaConnect and increases to six issues per year. For more information visit www.maney.co.uk/journals/scm

Dr Terrie Price, President of the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals, states: “The Governance Board of ASCIP recognizes the new partnership between Maney Publishing and JSCM as a great opportunity for dissemination of critical research and information to medical libraries and rehabilitation centers where spinal cord medicine and rehabilitation is practised.”

JSCM is edited by Dr Donald Bodner, Professor of Urology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Attending Physician at University Hospitals Case Medical Center, and Staff Urologist at the Cleveland Veterans Hospital, USA. Dr Bodner welcomes the new publishing arrangement: “The JSCM editorial team is looking forward to working with Maney to continue and develop the Journal’s reputation as the title in which to publish spinal cord research. With online publishing we will increase the international dissemination of its research to people in all areas of spinal cord medicine.”

“Maney Publishing is delighted to be working with the Academy to publish the Journal of Spinal Cord Medicine. This extremely prestigious title is at the cutting edge of vital research in its field and is an asset to our health sciences list,” commented Kimberly Martin, Executive Publisher at Maney.
